What’s the Best Company Car for 2015

Every vehicle has its own particular merits, but when it comes to choosing a company car many businesses will make decisions based on tax benefits. Of course, initial price and running costs will also play a large factor – as too, will reliability and practicality.

Without further ado, here are the best company cars for 2015:

Mini One 3dr

The mini is a long standing classic and has been named Car of the Year by Auto Express, making it a wise option for any business looking for small, compact vehicles. The 1.2 litre engine packs 101bhp, which is great for city driving and fuel economy – the latter benefiting from stop-start technology.

Despite being compact, the Mini has plenty of room up front and having two adults in the back for short journeys isn’t a big ask. BIK tax works out at £32/£64 depending on whether you pay 20% or 40% income tax respectively.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

This big 4x4 is a huge surprise this year, as its clever plug-in petrol-electric system means that it costs a lot less than you may think to run. In addition to that, high-rate earners will only have to pay £55 per month in BIK, while at 20% tax this drops to a mere £28 – great for the employee and employer alike!

It has an impressive fuel consumption of 148mpg and CO2 emissions of just 44g/km – a feature that would be outstanding on a compact hatchback! The large cabin and passenger space means that you can happily fit five adults in the vehicle without anyone feeling cramped.

Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI BlueMotion

With the new range of eco-friendly hatchbacks, you can expect all the great performance of the standard golf but with a highly fuel efficient engine – achieving close to 90mpg. Lower tax earners will only pay £50 a month in BIK, while higher earners will be paying £101.

The Golf is a very responsive vehicle, with a 0-62 of just over 10 seconds and a top speed of 124mph. While you’re hardly going to take a company car to this limit, you can rest assured that this car performs well with both motorway and inner-city driving.

SEAT Leon 1.2 TSI SE

If you’re looking for a compact hatch that will do the job well, has punchy acceleration, nippy handling and a fuel efficient engine then the Leon could be just what you’re looking for. The 1.2 litre engine isn’t the most powerful on this list, but the SE model provides you with comforts like air-con and cruise control that will make long drives more enjoyable.

The BIK is reasonable with 20% tax payers only having to pay £43 while high earners will see payments of £86. Running costs are also reasonably low thanks to an engine returning 57mpg.
